2026 Course Plan
The total duration of the course will be one week and will run from 22 to 28 June 2026
Overview
The course will take place Monday to Saturday. Every day of the course will have two morning sessions of 90 minutes each, during which invited speakers will present lectures. The afternoons will be dedicated to experimental exposure and training, including an initial tutorial followed by hands-on practice by the students. One afternoon will be dedicated to flash presentations from the students to help the organizers gauge the background of the students, their main interests, research experience, and goals. Another afternoon will be dedicated to cultural activities that will include a guided tour of the Universidad de Salamanca, and possibly a guided tour of the city and/or a visit to a museum. The course will include the closing lecture by the Keynote speaker and the last evening includes a banquet for all the participants. Breakfast, lunch and morning and afternoon coffee breaks will be provided by the course, periods that we hope will help promote networking among all participants. Dinner will be individually organized and not covered by the registration, except for the closing banquet.
Morning Sessions
Breakfast will be served between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. During the morning sessions, guest instructors will deliver two 90-minute lectures separated by a 30-minute coffee break. Each instructor will use his first lecture to describe the methodological aspects of his technique. During the second 90-minute lecture, typically held the following day, the instructor will present a case study of his or her choice as an application of the described methodology. Both conferences will be held from June 22 to 28, 2026 and the venue will be the Assembly Hall of the Centro Internacional del Español (CIE), Calle Zamora 32, 37002 Salamanca.
The lectures will emphasize state-of-the-art developments in advanced experimental and computational biophysics, as well as recent application of the methods, experimental or computational, being discussed. Lunch will be served after the morning sessions.
Afternoon Sessions
In the afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm) the students will attend a practical laboratory designed to complement the formal lecture material introduced in the mornings. During each practical laboratory session. Instructors in the afternoons include experts from the University of Salamanca and Research Center in the area, as well as faculty from other Universities and Centers in Spain.
Whenever possible, these sessions will involve direct practical experience with the technique(s) discussed during the morning session and/or the computational methods used to analyze the corresponding data.
